Justin shares why he decided to become a substitute teacher, what he loves most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what he would tell subs just embarking on their careers.</p><h3>Why did you become a Substitute Teacher?</h3><p>I became a substitute teacher in order to gain experience in the classroom environment and determine whether or not teaching was the career for me. Once I knew that I liked being in a classroom, subbing gave me the ability to understand myself as a teacher and what I was best at in order for me to plan my future in the classroom.</p><h3>What do you like about working with Cross Country Education?</h3><p>My favorite thing about Cross Country Education is that they are always very quick to assist whenever I reach out to them for assistance. Whenever I have a question or an issue, CCE does not keep me waiting, and that makes me feel secure as well as supported in my position, which I am grateful for. I feel that they are always on my side and have my back.</p><h3>What is something you’ve enjoyed in your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?</h3><p>I have enjoyed the freedom Cross Country Education gives me to decide which jobs I would like to take as well as working with schools to find new jobs for me. For example, when a job finished at a school and the school wanted me to return for another job, CCE was quick to get me back in a position at that school and worked with me on how that would be best for me.</p><h3>What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?</h3><p>Just be yourself. At the end of the day, we are adults, and the students are young. Most of the time, they are seeking guidance and knowledge, which we are far more capable of delivering than we may think when starting out. Be yourself because what you bring into the classroom will be what you get out of the classroom. The more genuine you are, the more the students will be willing to listen to what you are saying/teaching, and that is the key to being a successful&nbsp;teacher in the classroom.</p><p>One last thing I would like to say is that Cross Country Education gave me the opportunity to work in the field of special education, and I loved it so much that I have gone back to school to become a special ed teacher.
