This month, we’re spotlighting an amazing School Nurse, Marisa M.</p>
<p>Here’s why Marisa decided to become a School Nurse and what she enjoys most about working with Cross Country Education.</p>
<h3>Why did you become a School Nurse?</h3>
<p>I became a school nurse after working at a children's hospital. My time in the hospital was valuable, but I always wondered how my patients dealt with health challenges once they returned home. Becoming a school nurse has allowed me to bridge that knowledge gap and contribute to making education more accessible to kids with many different health conditions.</p>
<h3>What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h3>
<p>Cross Country offers a great work-life balance. The work schedule lines up well with the typical school schedule, so summer break is always a great time to reconnect with family, friends, and yourself. I always feel energized to start the school year and excited to serve our students.</p>
<h3>What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?</h3>
<p>Cross Country's partnership with Green Dot Schools has been such a great experience. Through this collaboration, we've been able to tailor our approach to nursing care and find creative solutions to different in-school health needs. I love getting to know my students and seeing familiar faces around the campuses.</p>
<h3>What kind of advice would you give to those starting in your field?</h3>
<p>New nurses are told so often that bedside (hospital) nursing is the only option out there. But there are so many different career paths! I'd encourage those just starting in this field to explore different nursing options, talk to people in those jobs, and take everything one step at a time. It's never too late to find a job you love!</p>
