For April, we're honoring Dustin K., an exceptional Behavior Intervention Developer, dedicated to empowering his students.

 Cross Country Education collaborates with top professionals nationwide who are passionate 
 about helping students succeed. This month, we feature Dustin K., an exceptional 
 Behavior Intervention Developer. He shares why he chose this career, what he finds 
 rewarding 
 about working with Cross Country Education, and advice for new BIDs.
</p>
<h3> Why did you become a Behavior Intervention Developer?	</h3>
<p> When I was an undergraduate, I took an entry-level Applied Behavior Analysis course. 
  This was the first I had ever heard of Applied Behavior Analysis. I found the 
  principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to be so interesting and I also found that 
  I was great at explaining behavior in observable and measurable terms. I ended the 
  class with a 107% and I realized human behavior was something I was fascinated with 
  and it was something I was really good at. From there I became a behavioral 
  interventionist for the next 8 years and continued to sharpen my skills. I love 
  to learn and the field is ever expanding, so I acquired as many certifications as 
  I could. I became a Board Certified Autism Therapist (BCAT) as well as a Registered 
  Behavior Therapist (RBT) and began training all incoming behavioral interventionists. 
  I then decided to pursue my master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, and graduated 
  with an outstanding achievement award. I passed my board exam the first time shortly 
  after graduating and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and began 
  practicing as a Behavior Intervention Developer.

<h3> What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h3>
<p> I truly love Cross Country Education so much! I think what I like best is that I 
  have so much support, and this was something I had never experienced at my other 
  companies. The team is so comprehensive with so many different providers and everyone 
  is so professional, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I truly have nothing but great 
  things to say about Cross Country Education.
</p>

<h3> What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?</h3>
<p> All of my schools are very close to where I live, so there is a huge decrease in 
  drive time. I used to have all of my students at different school sites at my previous 
  company, so the drive time was endless. It is truly so great having most of my 
  students at one site and this makes it so much easier to ensure all supervision is 
  provided.
</p>

<h3> What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?</h3>
<p> Do not be afraid to advocate for yourself or ask for help! BCBA burnout is very real, 
  and it is important to seek that help when you need it and advocate for yourself when 
  something is out of your competency or you need that support.
</p>
