This month, we’re spotlighting an amazing COTA, Alonso C.</p><p>Here’s why Alonso decided to become a COTA, and what he enjoys most about working with Cross Country Education.</p><h3>Why did you become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant?</h3><p>I became an occupational therapy assistant because I genuinely enjoy working with children. I help them achieve their goals through arts and crafts and other tabletop activities. Often, I identify the underlying skills they need to meet their goals while they’re engaging in these activities, and they don’t even realize they’re working towards their objectives.</p><h3>What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h3><p>I have enjoyed the training with some of the guest speakers as well as our current OT department. It’s been a great team.</p><h3>What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?</h3><p>I enjoy the ability to work in various different schools which allows me to learn and work with students k-12.</p><h3>What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?</h3><p>I recommend that the provider select one or two activities for the week and challenge themselves to incorporate them into all the students’ lessons.
