This time, we’re spotlighting one of our outstanding case managers and academic assessors, Jennifer.</p><p>Here’s why Jennifer decided to become a case manager and academic assessor, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for others just embarking on their careers.</p><h3>Why did you become a case manager and academic assessor?</h3><ul><li>When I was in high school, I saw my school locate special education classes in the back of campus and treat them as lesser students. I knew early on that I wanted to advocate and support people who just had different needs.</li></ul><h3>What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h3><ul><li>I love the work-life balance that CCE gives me. I have a kindergartener and love to drop her off and pick her up from school. It’s a small thing, but it's one of the things I got back after coming out of the standard school setting.</li></ul><h3>What have you liked about your experience working at CCE schools?</h3><ul><li>Special education programs look different everywhere, even within the same charter network. I love to experience the different school/department cultures. I get to take the best practices and stick them in my toolbox.</li></ul><h3>What kind of advice would you give to someone starting in your field?</h3><ul><li>Supporting students is a team approach. For me, starting as a paraeducator/TA was crucial.
