 Dr. Allison V. - Vice President Education Operations
 

 

 Q. Tell us about your path to Cross Country. What initially led you to
 pursue a position with the organization?


 A. I initially applied for a job at Cross Country because a colleague who saw
 the job description believed it had been developed with me in mind. I once
 thought -- and still do -- that my three E’s (education, experience, and
 expertise) complemented the role wholeheartedly.

Q. Have you always had an interest in technology?

 A. Absolutely. I've always found technology fascinating. I believe technology
 offers people the possibility to be productive, creative and educated, and it
 encourages collaborations. Every day, technology assists me in achieving my
 goals because I enjoy exploring the “whys” behind finding exciting methods to
 improve, support, streamline, and automate operations.


 Q. What’s your favorite thing about working for Cross Country?


 A. Our culture is my favorite aspect of working for Cross Country. You
 immediately get the feeling Cross Country is a large family. We all work
 together to support one another's careers and personal lives. Positive
 attitudes, real awareness, and proactive sincerity produce a dynamic workplace
 from the top down. I appreciate that top-down leadership is focused on our

Q. What motivates you in your job every day?

 A. The best aspect of my role is that I get to witness the
 fruits of my effort every day. There is variety in my days, which I like. I
 frequently remark that I enjoy multitasking or juggling, so having many things
 to choose from keeps me motivated.


 Q. What do you find to be one of the most rewarding things about working in
 your role?


 A. There are never any typical days in my job. I get to
 showcase state-of-the-art technological tools, produce content, assess
 educational materials, and discuss with various Cross Country teams how I can
 assist with the improvement of their procedures.


 Q. So many of us work from home these days. What sort of things do you do
 to “take a break” (i.e., not go stir-crazy!) during the workday?
 


 A. Hachica is a wonderful teammate of mine. She is a
 10-year-old, 100-pound American Akita who alerts me when it's time to take a
 break and go check the mail or take&nbsp;a stroll around&nbsp;the house or
 even just give some pets. I try to follow a routine and am currently
 attempting to include exercise before I begin my workday.

 Q. What is something about you those who know you may not be aware of? An
 interest, hobby, fun fact, etc.


 A. Oooohhhhh. I like to share fun facts. I've had type 1
 diabetes since I was 16 years old. I am a nurse and have had the pleasure of
 experiencing travel contracts. Yellow is one of my favorite colors.


 I don't have a single tattoo. I plan on scuba diving with whale sharks at the
 Georgia Aquarium for my birthday this year. My favorite team is the Chicago
 Bears, but because of my husband, John, I also cheer for the Buffalo Bills.
 And “Robopocalypse” by Daniel H. Wilson is one of my favorite books.

Q. Do you live by a mantra or philosophy?
A. “Assume positive intent ... ” — Indra Nooyi

 Giving people the benefit of the doubt and giving yourself the chance to learn
 and grow occurs when you search for positive intent.
